Feast Day

Hi guys, it's me again. You know the "heart beating very fast" thing when it comes to sharing, I get it sometimes at home when I've a compulsion to post here. Haha no idea why and I'm not sure whether anyone still reads the log blog but here goes my post.

Feast Day - 50th Anniversary Mass
Mass was a very special time for me, a lot of emotions. It was surprising and heartwarming to see people back (we still missed you Swee, Kong, Joan, Dominic and Melvin). A sense of joy in attending mass with Youth Ministry - people I have come to know, love and serve with. It felt like a big family. To have MSC sitting in front and at my side, people I've looked up to and learnt from since young. And then looking at OWL and the many Sec3s with us, indeed the Church is a living Church. One that is constantly renewed with more people to serve God whenever he calls. Even receiving Communion from Jude, haha. That was a funny experience. And as I returned to my pew, I looked up and saw the beautiful Cross and everything felt right.

I came home and plonked myself on the bed and started to read the 50th anniversary book. It took me an hour and somehow reading the reflections, stories and letters, I started crying. Very emotional I know, black tears from my eyeliner. Haha I guess I was just overwhelmed with awe of God's working in the people of our Church and and the many many blessings God has given. I was struck by just the faith of individuals (go read Thaddeus' family's letter on pg 151, Auntie Gladys' reflection on pg 128), the strength of the community and the generousity of all who served. Very very touching.

So who knows? Maybe 50 years down the road, when we are 70 (old old old) and SFX celebrates its 100th anniversary, some of us may be up there on the altar, being celebrated for our long service. Haha.

Another thing that fit in nicely with the day - Brother Jo's last day. Hearing his "last address", it made me even more thankful to God for all that he has given. Thankful for Brother Jo's time with us, his dedication, prayers, guidance and love. Somehow it tied in nicely with Feast Day.

Anyway, a bible verse came to me as I finished the book and thought about the happenings of the day. To me, it summed up the whole experience and so I will share it with you.

"God saw all he had made, and indeed it was very good"- Genesis 1:31

Love, Jess (off to study!)
