happy 5th anniversary LOG!

dear loggers, happy 5th anniversary!
the Lord Almighty is to be praised and to be lifted on high!
he has done great things for us. his abundant love he had showered upon each one of us and to our community.
throughout my journey, i have grown a lot and learnt a lot. the memories and journey are dear to my heart. they'll surely be a part of me that i will never forget.
i look forward to many years of growth with you guys as i have accepted each one of you into my life and heart.
to the sowers, thanks for making the time to come down. despite the programme you guys had. to those that werent physically there to celebrate, thanks for being there in spirit. your presence still resides within our hearts in the midst of fun we had.
the Lord is truly great. he has blessed me with a wonderful community and a beautiful bunch of brothers and sisters. i thank the Lord for his gift of love to me and my community. (:

a personal reflection, to those who attended 9am community Mass, i hope you all paid attention to father bosco's homily. but to the sowers who werent present, i would love to share this with you guys. father used the 2nd reading of today as the main highlight of him homily. he spoke about love. and he tasked all of us to a challenge. and i will humbly take up the challenge. his challenge was to go to someone you have never said i love you before or to someone you have not said i love you before. this challenge is to heal broken wounds or to make a relation between people progress. as he spoke, the spirit worked within me and i know who i need to give those 3 words to. it is someone i have never said i love you before and its someone which i feel God has tasked me to approached him. i trust in the Lord and i will take up the challenge.
next, the second reading emphasize on love.
it goes,

Love is always patient and kind; it is never jealous; love is never boastful or conceited; it is never rude or selfish; it does not take offence, and not resentful. Love takes no pleasure in other people's sins but delight in the truth; it is always ready to excuse, to trust, to hope and to endure whatever comes.

and Jesus is love too. so,

Jesus is always patient and kind; he is never jealous; Jesus is never boastful or conceited; he is never rude or selfish; he does not take offence, and not resentful. Jesus takes no pleasure in other people's sins but delight in the truth; he is always ready to excuse, to trust, to hope and to endure whatever comes.

and Jesus taught us to love and this is my personal conviction to follow his way, and i hope all of you out there will do too (:

Kenneth is always patient and kind; he is never jealous; love is never boastful or conceited; he is never rude or selfish; he does not take offence, and not resentful. I take no pleasure in other people's sins but delight in the truth; and is always ready to excuse, to trust, to hope and to endure whatever comes.

(Your Name) is always patient and kind; he/she is never jealous; love is never boastful or conceited; he/she is never rude or selfish; he/she does not take offence, and not resentful. I take no pleasure in other people's sins but delight in the truth; and is always ready to excuse, to trust, to hope and to endure whatever comes.

i hope you all would hold 1 Corinthians 12:31-13:13 close to your heart, with regards to love. because love, is the spring of life.

1 Corinthians 13:13
Meanwhile these three remain: faith hope and love; and the greatest of these is love.

mark tangs challenge part 2

I know i may be potentially hypocritical when i speak out against clubbing, but it has become one of the areas in my life to change (radically as mark might add) after being in School of Witness. DISCLAIMER THIS IS MOSTLY RANTING

Melvyn Foo offers some stunning revelation against clubbing: "guys go there to touch girls. girls go there to be touched by guys. everyone drinks to relief themselves of their inhibitions."

People like to justify their clubbing deeds by the intentions they have and the company they keep. I want to explain why this can never qualify.

"I only go with my guy/girl friends and we dance and drink with each other just for fun. I dont have the intention of trying to pick a chick up or to dance with some stranger"

My friend offered me this when talking about clubbing. Surely with such good intentions, its okay to just have a bit of fun once in a while? After all, with friends of the same gender, what could possibly go wrong. The answer lies, of course, in temptation.

The main purpose of going is to enjoy the company of friends and dancing as a socially cohesive activity. Intention is more or less certified as Good. But what's to say that your mind won't be wandering on every girl in a skanky dress / short skirt that squeezes past you, especially if you are partially inebriated. I wont tell you how your mind wanders, you very well know.

You may try to maintain your intentions in your actions, but you CANNOT maintain them in your mind or idaresay soul, which are where they originate in the first place. Because if i were to offer a scenario that an insanely HOT guy/girl wants to dance with you and show you a good time, the very fact that you have to think about this question makes your intention ultimately fallible.

An analogy is a couple that is going to get married in the future, and decide to co-habitate with their partner before marriage. Even though the intentions of love are so great, one cannot deny the GREATER power of temptation. "they are deeply in love, staying together only helps them to strengthen their love, they have plans to be tgt anw in the future..." But such close proximity can lead you down a path fuelled by LUST, easily mistaken for as Love. Its a slippery slope. Start with living together, then decide to sleep in the same room, then join the beds, then sex results.

I guess for me the big question is why leave the door wide open to the devil while attempting have good intentions? Or are your intentions secretly to leave the door open, masquerading your desires as a good intention, but with all the intention to make it bad?

Anyway, there is a reason why the club is so dark, and consequently so crowded. Light is generally associated with Good, and the absence of it Bad. Dark promotes promiscuity without the chance of being caught. Dark allows you to remain anonymous to the person you just danced with. Why? You have no intention of getting to know that person, she's just serving a function, she is an object to your need. But imagine if you knew her as a person, her history, likes-dislikes, emotions, feelings. You knew that she just broke up or has low self-esteem. Would you still want to rub yourself all over her?

Anyway, i didn't mean to, but i ranted. But im exercising my prose fingers also la, haha.

I just wanted to say clubbing consists of a lot of compromise on our values, even if we want to try to cling on to our good intentions to justify our ends.

Here's praying that we'll never go back again

the call to challenge

hey LOG,

as some of you may know, I'm heading to Manila tmr morning on a 6am flight and will only return on 8 Feb which is a Monday. So i won't be seeing you guys for 2 sundays even though its only a week long =( a conversation in Anne's car last night made me realise something, something that I had been struggling with. Hence, before i fly, i want to share it with everyone.

We say we want to challenge each other but usually we seek a fellow community member's opinion before we make the challenge to a particular person. But often enough, we may be scared of judgement from the community member that we seek opinion from and we end up not challenging the person we want to. We may also end up feeling that we are the only one with such an opinion and hence brush it off as being oversensitive ourselves. If you are agreeing with what I have typed above, that would be that there are many challenges that we could have made to each other without fear of being judged or fear of being labelled self-righteous. So my brothers and sisters, I urge you to make those challenges you feel that you should.

And so I would take this chance to share about what I feel too. This was supposed to be a joint post with Soo, but we did not have sufficient time to come and craft it together. So I will embark it myself and now its solely my opinion on this.

I feel that I'm a very radical person and hence, there are things that I may feel difficult to accept. It came to a point when I asked God whether this insistence towards radicalness is good, because it may make me an overly critical person. But I guess, this doubt had surfaced from the fear of being judged for judging others. Then Soo enlightened me with his words of wisdom, that there's a difference between judging and realising that the person is not following God or His ways. The burden I had became lighter because I always reproach myself for judging others but perhaps it was just a call for me to challenge that brother or sister.

Hearing from the SOW people how brother fritz, their main preacher for the first few weeks, emphasized on "God or die," I was happy because it was this radical belief that I hold firm to - that those who do not follow in His ways will not have life, true life. And it let me to think about whether LOG was radical in living out our lives. are we?

One particular thing that I want to challenge the community now is the same reason why me and Soo wanted to co-author this piece - stems from our collective opposition towards clubbing. It was apt that the sow guys and me went through the Theology of the Body session and two teachings reinforced our opinions. 1. Men are responsible for Women's dignity and Women are responsible for Men's dignity. 2. Stay away from temptation

1. Men are responsible for Women's dignity by not looking at them as objects of desire; Women are responsible for Men's dignity by not dressing scantily so as to cause Men to sin.

2. Man (note the "a"), after the fall of Adam and Eve to temptation, is in a state of concupiscence - a state of sin/chaos you would say. And hence, Man need to differentiate love from lust by the power of the Holy Spirit to return to the original state of innocence. (all of this from the TOB). Hence, by staying away from temptation, it is a first step of returning to that state of innocence and also to welcome the Holy Spirit into our lives to transform our sinful nature.

There can be justifications for going for it, provided that they are just, and that the justification is 100% the reason you are going for it - that is how radical it can be. Going by the reasoning of (1) above, it is not only the guys' fault if they are going there for the wrong reasons - its also because girls are there to give them the chance. I know there still can be many reasons why you would choose that its ok but this is my challenge to you.

Mark

Hello Log.

I thought Father Brian's sermon during Mass on yesterday evening contained some valuable points to think and perhaps ponder about. I spent some time reflecting upon it, and perhaps I'd like to share my little reflection here.

Jesus said to the crowd: 'Would you bring in a lamp to put it under a tub or under the bed? Surely you will put it on the lamp-stand? For there is nothing hidden but it must be disclosed, nothing kept secret except to be brought to light. If anyone has ears to hear, let him listen to this.' He also said to them, 'Take notice of what you are hearing. The amount you measure out is the amount you will be given - and more besides; for the man who has will be given more; from the man who has not, even what he has will be taken away.'
- Mark 4:21-25

This is the Gospel passage from Mass yesterday evening.
What is the message for us in this Gospel passage?

All of us, regardless of whether we are rich or poor, young or old; all of us have a mission to be a light to the world. And this mission is no small matter; just look at the effect a tiny flame has in the darkest of places! Light shines forth to be seen; a guiding light to lead others along that same path to Christ.

"Nothing hidden but it must be disclosed, nothing kept secret except to be brought to light."
Our personal experiences of God in our lives; what have we done with them? Have we kept them within ourselves? Or have we gone all out to share it with others?

Do not be afraid!
Should we be shy of opening up and sharing the greatness of God in our lives? The answer is no. As a community now of a very mixed age and many different personalities (which is great to see), the differences should never be a barrier to sharing our experiences with one another. It is through our differences that we are strengthened. Never for one moment feel that you are insignificant, or that you have nothing to contribute. Just as a tiny flame in the darkness, each of you can go a long way in making a difference in the lives of our brothers and sisters around us. And together, imagine how much further you can go as a community!

Jesus challenges us today to share with others the saving grace that he has given. Jesus challenges us to be much brighter lights than we are. Under a tub or under the bed, we are safe. Our flames would probably never flicker out because we are sheltered. But Jesus challenges us to come out of our comfort zones, whatever they may be.

"I don't want to share because I'm afraid of what people may think of me," or "I don't want to share because I don't think my sharing's as good as this other person's."

Do not be afraid!
Jesus challenges us to face our fears head-on. To be challenged by the winds that threaten to blow our flames out once we come out onto the lamp-stand! Coming out, our flames may flicker. But this is the call to discipleship: to face rejection from the world. To undergo desert experiences just as how Jesus went through his own desert experience. For our flames to take a flickering each time we stand tall on the lamp-stand to proclaim the truth.

This, dear friends, is the challenge issued by Jesus today. Are you up to it?

helloo. got this from this daily thingy i subscribed to (:

The disciples had been with Jesus for three years. They'd seen miracles - dead men came back to life, the sick were healed, and water was turned to wine. These were but a few of the hundreds of miracles they saw Jesus perform. However, even after these experiences, they lacked one important thing - intimacy with Jesus. They didn't really know Jesus.

This must have been a great disappointment to Jesus. He'd invested so much into developing a close and intimate relationship with the twelve. Consider that they spent three years with their Master. They learned about Him during those years. However, they had knowledge without intimacy. They experienced God's power individually and He even performed miracles through their own lives. Sometimes it is easier to do the work of God without the intimacy with God.

A friend once commented about the current condition of much of the mainline churches today: "You'd think the trinity was the Father, Son and Holy Scriptures versus the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. There's never been a better description of the Church today.

But, alas, this is a challenge to my own walk with God. It is easy for me to fall into this trap of working so hard for Jesus that I forget to work with Jesus. Jesus desires intimacy more than works. He tells us in John 15:5: "I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. If anyone does not remain in me, he is like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned." Whatever works we do must be a fruit of our intimacy with Him.

Lord, help us not to just know about you. We desire to know you.

okay. enjoy the week. von loves you!

vision or imagination

something that came to me when reflecting on the passage John 12:24

"unless a grain of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains but a single grain. but if it dies, it produces many seeds."

A seed falls among the thorns, and it struggles to grow. the seedling is challenged for sunlight and nutrients and its growth is slow and impaired. It, however, continues to strive to grow taller, and reach deeper into the soil. One day, it finally emerges beyond the thorny brushes, and its leaves can finally enjoy a limitless supply of air and sunlight. With a sturdy stem, the plant grows at an unprecedented rate, racing further up toward the sky until finally, one day, it blooms.

it blooms brighter and harder and more beautiful than any flower around it. and for once in its life, its happy. every day, it admires itself and pats itself on the back for a job well done. such reward is befitting for the struggles it faced. it wanted nothing more than to stay in full bloom forever, to remain in its beauty for the rest of its life.

so when the time comes for it to wither and die, it refuses profusely. "what is the point of dying and becoming an ugly stump, when i can remain in all my glory as a flower in full bloom?"

we are always comfortable in full bloom, because this bloom is our entitled right for the hard knocks that life has given us. but will we allow ourselves to wither away, to not care for the diminishing beauty of our own life but the chance to grow new life, to spread the seeds to produce a 100 new plants?

thats my sharing for today :)

Hi everyone!

Just wanted to share 2 videos which they showed us at SOW. The first one is an awesome testimony of God's greatness. Just watch and be awed!

The next one was a video they played prior to a prayer ministry session at night. I think it summarises God's amazing love for us. Watch it, and your perceptions of God's love for us will be changed, because I know mine did.

Alright, God Bless and have a great week ahead! Continue to pray for us SOWers and know that you all are in our prayers too (:

God true blessing to me : LOG

Hello Everyone :P

this is Greg :P ...Whoa this is really exciting!!!! My First Post in Log Blog :P

Okay, Serious post now

I actually wanted to blog on LOG Blog after my few visits to it, however I never took the courage to ask anyone for the password and username and I also was not ready yet. Now I know I am and truly it’s because of god. I just want to say a big THANK YOU to all the loggers because everyone has been really nice and everything and most of all very accepting to me and to the rest of the loglets. I really was confused after confirmation because I knew I wanted to join the youth ministry but didn't know which group and it was quite irritating. I prayed very hard and god told me by a song where the phrase " Community of believers" just struck out to me and I knew that it truly meant the youth ministry but it still didn't answer my question of which group and I was not very happy because I was scared I might start straying away from Church. Sec 2 camp came and it was very busy and all so I got distracted from which youth group I wanted to join. After Sec 2 camp I got back on track and started thinking about a youth group and the week right after Sec 2 camp was Parish feast day mass on Sunday and after mass when the whole youth ministry gathered to take photos and when I stood there looking at everyone , I really had a strong liking for Log because you guys seemed so cool and on the other hand I ended up taking a pic with Owl so I thought maybe that was a sign from god but then later on that day when I was talking to Estelle she told me that I should pray about it, I supposed that the parable of the yeast would be Log reading so I went to read it and it really connected to me and how I was feeling at that point of time. And at this point I was talking to Nigel & Alex a lot and I spoke to them about LOG and they were saying they were thinking of LOG too. Then I prayed for a week and I asked for God for a clear sign and suddenly one of the days Jude was back home he came up to me and told me "Hey Greg , I think Log would be a good choice" and I was like okay, weird moment but okay and I prayed even more and I realize that I facil-ed Sec 2 camp with Liver and he was so cool like a brother and I realize that it really must be LOG and the next day I went to mass , the whole mass " I had the feeling that it was LOG" and me and Alex were praying about LOG together and we attended mass and that day one of the songs at mass was about wheat and after mass we met Mark Abraham and he told me and Alex he doesn't know why but he feels like telling us something and he told us .."Just don't wait, join the youth group god is telling you too" and Alex & I were so freaked out but yeah. That was the day I said yes it's Log and told Liver that I wanted to join. YEAH that was how I choose Log for those of you who were wondering.

Now just a little more!!! Sorry I know this is long. But just a few more line.....

Since the day I came for the first session till now I slowly have realized that LOG will be a close part of my life from now onwards. And today when we were there at the Sec 3's first lesson and when Anne introduced us as her family, I truly realized that I have inherited a family myself too and when I came to the blog and saw the Christmas 09 picture I truly felt so blessed. I would really like to thank all of you for making me feel so accepted and loved in LOG and I hope that we will all grow together in faith and in our journey in getting to know god. And Yes I think there are many more jump shots, many more crazy moments and a million more moments of joy and happiness and maybe even a little bit of sadness coming our way but we will take anything with God with us as a community.

Okay, I am done and I am really sorry for my post being super super long and I apologies for all my mistakes but I really mean what I have written here :)

PRAISE GOD FOR LOG

Love <3 ,
Greg

just a thought.

hi guys, this is my first post here. i bumped into something that got me thinking. wanted to share it with all of you. (:

Weakness, poverty, silence and celibacy all give witness to the rumour of God. They may be the necessary means of martyrdom in our age.

School of Witness

Hi all, while its 3-4 days old in my mind, i will do my best to share with you what we have learnt at the School of Witness. Other participants of the school, please feel free to correct anything i have misintepreted or edit anything you feel you can do better justice to :)

Edwyn, our co-ordinator, gave us the opening session on Jesus calling his first disciples. Before we can become witnesses for Christ, we have to first understand as well as become his disciples. The passage for study is Luke 5:1-11 - Jesus calls the first disciples. The message was powerful simply in the manner it was delivered: the more it was broken down, the more obvious its meaning became. Edwyn handled it verse by verse, literally breaking God's Word in that sense, to present to us the story and the process that is necessary to become a disciple of Christ.

Disclaimer is that vocabulary being used may differ between bible versions.

V1 "the people were pressing to listen to the Word of God"

The Bible is the key to our faith, and without meditating upon and devouring this Word of God we cannot grow deeper in this relationship with Him. From this School, I have realised that the Bible DOES hold a lot of answers, if only you would open it daily : )

as the people of that day were PRESSING to listen to the Word of God, pushing and shoving their way to hear him teach, so must we too have the same desire and thirst to know Him more. 1 Peter 2:2 tells us to be like newborn babies and thirst for the pure spiritual milk. As a grumpy baby is inconsolable and cries until he receives his milk, and suckles on it with all the satisfaction in the world. This applies to our desire for God, especially in his scripture, our spiritual food.

V2 " the men were away from their boats and washing their nets "

A fisherman's vocation is to fish, and without being on their boats they cannot earn their livelihoods. Being out of their boats washing their nets represents the attachments that we carry in our lives that bring us AWAY from a more perfect relationship with God. To push the analogy further, our nets often become tangled and we are drawn further into our burdens we carry.

Although i find this link sometimes a bit tenuous because the analogy might be used to say that nets are their tools and they are tending to it, the symbol of the BOAT in this story is essential as seen in verse 3 and should not be intepreted otherwise.

V3 " and he got into one of the boats, belonging to Simon Peter... "

A fisherman requires his boat to earn a living, and he entrusts his life and lifetime to his boat. Jesus literally steps into the life of Simon Peter, and who better to receive as His first disciple than the man upon which he will build His Church! We must ask Jesus to step into our lives and rock our boat : )

V4 "Put out into the deep water and let your nets out for a catch"

Jesus will not ask us to serve Him in shallow waters where we will find everything such a breeze. Serving God means going into the deep water, where risks become apparent and our fear grows. This is the call to be radical, to spread His Word where it is most challenging.

V5 "Master, we have caught nothing, but if you say so we will let down our nets"

The disciples fished for an ENTIRE DAY and caught not even an ikan bilis, which must have broken their spirits and left them feeling very down. Their spirits were probably empty like their nets. But it is only when we realise how empty our lives are that God can begin to fill it. And our biggest step here is to trust.

Even after a whole fruitless night of fishing, Simon trusted the will of Jesus against all his own fisherman instincts that the nets will probably come up empty once again. We have to depend on his strength and not our own, especially where our human instincts and minds run the show in our lives.

V6 "They caught so many fish that their nets were beginning to break"

Our God is a God of abundance, and should we choose to entrust our lives into His hands we will receive far greater gifts possible than on this Earth. We are always caught up with how much fish can God possibly give us in our lives before we even comprehend or take the step to trust God.

V7 " They signalled to their companions to help and they filled both boats to sinking point"

Along the way in our life many times we have cried out to our friends and our loved ones to help us, to provide us with the support and encouragement and with their prayers. Just as Jesus lived his life on earth with his disciples in community, we have the need for community in our lives where we can live out our faith journey.

Personally, i find that to practise my faith individually is a near impossible task, and i would have lost my way a long time ago without the support of my community. and such is the love of god that we share, to grow in faith together :)

V8 "Simon fell on his knees in front of Jesus and said, go away Lord, for I am a sinful man!"

In this verse we are aware of the unworthiness and repentance of Simon. He tells Jesus to go away not because he does not want Jesus but because he is not worthy of the Lord. Our unworthiness is not justification to shy away from the Lord but to turn to him continuously to seek absolution for our sins and to strengthen ourselves through His Love.

John 12:24 says that unless a grain of wheat falls onto the ground and dies, it remains but a single grain. if it dies, it will bear much fruit. We too, must seek this willingness to deny ourselves and to DIE TO OURSELVES, and through this only then can we truly live as his disciples did.

V9-10 " Do not be afraid, for I will make you fishers of men "

Truly God has a greater calling for every single one of us, one that is greater than us, but never enough to consume us. As fishers of men our call to evangelisation is clear, to BUILD THE KINGDOM OF GOD by spreading His Word, Love and teachings. Matt 11:29-30 "Take my yoke and put it on you for I am gentle and humble in spirit. My yoke is easy and my burden is light"

The words "do not be afraid" appear many times in the Bible, but lets take another context. Listen to the chorus of the song Jesus Take The Wheel by Carrie Underwood, and truly we must LET GO. What do we let go of?

V11 " They left everything and followed him "

Its not about how much fish the disciples have caught, but how they gave up everything and followed Jesus. What have we or will we sacrifice in this journey for Christ, only you, my brothers and sisters, have that answer for yourself : ) pray to God and in the silence and calm of your heart, as you sit there ever so still, will He begin to reveal His plans.

And thats all for this teaching, I hope it has touched you in some way. God Bless! Continue to pray for us in our disciple building, and we will have you in our prayers always :)

Joel

God created us to know Him, love Him, serve Him and be with Him.

For the past couple of days, I've been paying more attention to the little things i will miss. Sometimes I just sit there trying to soak in every little bit of the atmosphere around me. It's comforting hearing swee sneeze loudly, nise looking blankly into air with her big eyes, anne pouting as she comprehends something, joan humming, liver clearing his throat and other random things like that. (:

*pardon any bad english. no time to read and check thru. I'm alr late! hahaha

thought this might be a good summary of what we've been though. this is just stuff from my perspective. tried to look at it from a community pov but i only have 1 pair of eyes! if i was a camera im not a wideangled one.
ok enough with strange analogies.
__________

I've been meaning to write a post about log.
we're gonna be 5 next year and man that is long!
being with community has been exciting and fulfilling so let me just recap.

2004 Secondary 3.
We were 15 and new to all this community or group stuff.
Many of us wanted to do something, anything just because we fell in love with God and didn't want to ever let go so we set up a community to be our glue.

2005 Secondary 4.
Olevel year.
Some more joined(liver, rice, mark) and some left due to other commitments.
We gathered in church religiously to study and go for mass or ado afterward.
It was tiring but being in church was one of the best feelings on earth especially since studying felt like such a chore.
To look at the cross and see how much Jesus went through would comfort me straight away. (that is if we weren't too tired from studying and thus nodding off in church)
The simple act of coming to church just brought me peace knowing that I can always turn to God.
I didn't need much reason anymore, I started to live in God.
As a community we were growing socially and spiritually, learning about one another and about how to live our faith.
It was also the year of random LoG scandals since we were all so close and happy in each others company but that time is over and i think that time sorta bonded us in a strange way. (:

2006 J1/poly1
It was a difficult time because everyone was thrown into a new environment.
School no longer ended at 3/4 but past 5 or 6 even!
CCA commitments meant that we could no longer go for mass as often.
New friends, schools further away and tons of work tore quite a number of us away from our routines.
I rmb looking at how excited soo and liver was in vj (according to soo there were too many chiobus) and felt like vj was pulling them away from church. That's one reason why I felt a little glad that I went to AJ instead because it's a lot nearer and not so hyper.
Some of us went to secular schools, some with to SA or CJ. Either the new environment helped to strengthen our faith, though sometimes faith lost it's meaning.
I distinctly rmb coming to mass one day and sitting alone. It was sad but I liked it because I could concentrate better.
But we had a mini (damn camwhore) retreat and that brought us back a little

2007 J2/ poly2
Somehow I don't rmb much from 2007
I looked at 2007 LoGblog archives and didn't see much either. My entries were rather sad though, I think people were disappearing and i was emo about it ):
Alevels really took away a lot of church time for most of us.
But we made it through with flying colours (:
at the end of the year there was mission trip and that pulled us all back.
I rmb doing canteen once and almost breaking down because there were so few pple.

2008 freetime,uni1/ poly3/ army1
We were scared.
the guys were armyfied. army angst due to the shorter hair, the annoying sun, the tough regime, and a very very different lifestyle surrounded by unfamiliar people. melvyn joined us too.
the girls were working and we had days out and did confi camp and most of us started uni/school and that was also pretty challenging (staying in hall and missing serangoon ): )
we looked for new blood because manpower was severely lacking.
as the year drew to a close, the guys were coming back.
we ended with christmas parties and hat parties and preparing those younger for army.
it was difficult to commit but we were fine. (:

2009 uni1, 2/ army2
we were sustaining a momentum and participating or helping out at more events.
easter, pnws, combined sessions, camps, retreats, 50th anniversary, confi, sharings, caroling and christmas.
It was the year we really stepped up at the older ones in the youth ministry, leading more and connecting with those younger than us.
we had new members, zhane and kenneth and newly confirmed sec3s. and we sorta lost some and it was a tough hurdle to cross because it affected us quite badly.
God had his plan and did it in his time (:
This was also the year that sfx youth minstry came together as one and supporting each other and functioning as one and not separate communities with only the leaders talking.

2010 uni3 / free time & uni1
what will the year be like?
judging from all the activities i think it'll be like 2009 but even more awesome. it's a combination of all the years that have passed (getting to know each other, formation, time commitment and sfx youth working together)

it'll be exciting and i'm sad i won't be hear to capture it in pictures and in experiences but im glad to see where we have come and all I really want to say is that LoG has been here for me for a really long time and there hasn't been a period of time I wasn't near or around log so being away will really be quite different. hope all the sessions and stuff are super good. must share with me k! please put stuff online (input and reflections) so that i could read and follow and send me nice long emails on whatever is happening k!

I can't stay away from LoG so please keep in touch.

I actually intended to do an individual kinda affirmation thing. but that shall came another time.

toodles. (:
time to buy stuff for the trip. (:
