Magnificat
This reflection comes a few days late but I was quite touched by the gospel reading from Monday. On Monday, we celebrated the feast of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the gospel reading included the Magnificat. For some reason, these words stood out for me.
My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord
My spirit rejoices in God my Saviour
for he has looked with favour on his lowly servant
From this day all generations will call me blessed:
The Almighty has done great things for me
and holy is His name
How often does my soul proclaim God' greatness in the world? How often does my spirit rejoice in the Lord? How often do I acknowledge that God has done great things in my life, is doing great things and will continue to do great things? How often do I feel that God is not showing his favour unto me? How often do I proclaim his name?
Those were the questions that came into my mind, almost instantaneously during the homily and now I think I've a great awareness and appreciation for the Magnificat. How Mary must have been so blessed with God's graces to proclaim all that.. How I think it's my daily challenge to make the Magnificat real in my life, especially at this moment in time. So I hope the Magnificat is real in your life too :) Keep me in your prayerss
Love, Jess
